Well...

Well...I had great intentions of keeping up with this regularly. But I have no flair for writing and not enough interesting happens in a day here and I don't have the energy to sit and think if something to say everyday. So I will come here when the mood strikes or when I have something witty to say, don't hold you breath for anything earth shattering OK? K.

We had a small family gathering on Sunday for Fathers day and to celebrate Ryan's 4th birthday early. The weather was menacing for a good part of the day but we did manage to have a nice afternoon outdoors. We all had a nice visit while the kids played and squabbled around us! I always enjoy it when we have 'all' our of parent here together. Dad was handy with the BBQ for me this year. Saved me from running in and out 57 times! We wisely decided to eat indoors as the storm that had threatened all day arrived full force near the end of dinner. My mother always does too much and makes herself tired instead of sitting and enjoying the company. One day I will get her to sit down for more than a fraction of a second and let me do it! Ryan got some great gifts from his grandparents again this year. He is going to very much enjoy his new 'digger'. I find the dart guns very funny considering that I have always been very anti gun for the kids and I even bought them! But the darts stick to the windows and the sound they make when they hit makes me giggle! I know I need to get out more!! Mind you when they start shooting each other in the face, they will have to go to toy heaven.
We made out trek to a sorta far away place for baseball last night. Far enough away for a team of 6 and 7yr olds. The other team coach decided that instead of letting all the kids have fun we needed to bench some them. Not really cool. We are there for fun, for all the kids! But what ever....in the end we WON! HA!! I am trying to teach the kids that is all in the how you play ed the game and all that stuff but I am still way too excited when they win. Mind you that also means that they played their very best! Right? Right! What better reward than that.
We are down to 7 school days now. Ugh. I dread summer. I'm sure my mom did too. We have a basement full of toys and a yard with sufficient toys yet it is and endless stream of fighting and 'I'm bored' and we're hot...blah blah. I don't remember wanting to come in but at that time parents didn't worry about the kids being taken and we were always out and about. Our kids are unfortunately confined to the yard. The kids that are out and about these days are the one that we want to keep FAR FAR away form ours! Sad that no one seems to be there to parent them too.
Lets hope for the best for the summer season!! Time goes by so fast, I need to make more effort to enjoy what is here in front of me at the monent, no matter what it is.

Friday the 13th, June 2008

This is my first day with my new blog....lets see what happens!!
I have been recently inspired to start my own after reading the blogs of 2 women who are very skilled at describing their everyday lives!! Thought it was worth a shot.
Friday the 13th. I should have know better than to venture out of the house to get a few errands done today. Especially in a town that I often find challenging to navigate. Unfortunatly not due to the landscape but the people. My son and I made our first stop to purchase 2 mens shirts for fathers day. Once again should have know better than to venture into a store known to be busy and slightly cluttered. In short order we had what we came for but the check out process turned out to be the callenge. My son decided that he had to pee!! In a store with no public restrooms of course! We made our way the front and chose our spot 3rd in line. Why when one is in a hurry do the people in front magiclly turn everythinkg into a MAJOR production?????? Thist separtate from that and pay for this with that and not the other....blah blah. 2nd in line had one thing money in hand...perfect! Till couple #1 didn't move away from the confined check out area and decided to have a very long look at socks, after the already complicated check out...let shop some more and stand in the way of the small boy holding his penis!! Some one else saw us waiting and decided that she should go ahead of us. Thanks a pant load. All the while we stood. Queitly and not in anyones way, yet still in the line up. As we were on aproach to the check out another person comes swooping in and decides to announce that she was indeed next...... NOT EVEN CLOSE LADY!! I loudly and anoyedly proclaimed that she was not and took my turn. It would seem that taking my turn after waiting nicely is a shocking thing to these people as they all stopped with stunned looks on their faces. WHY???? How many people am I suposed to let in the line?? Would you like to let everyone go first and have a small boy pee on the floor? Wouold that have satisfied anyone!! I have spent a great deal of time teacing my 3 kids manners and to be polite. Is that all in vain? No one seems to abide by that anymore. I now need to go back and teach them come hell or high water stand up and don't allow anyone to walk all over them. TAKE YOUR PLACE IN LINE! No matter what 'line' it may be. Have respect for others and yourself too!
